Acuide is a study app. It works by reading the material you give it, so being straight about where that material goes matters more here than it would for most apps. This page says what we collect, why, and who else touches it.
Who we are
Acuide (“we”, “us”) provides the Acuide mobile app and this website. Contact us at support@acuide.com about anything on this page.
What we collect
Account information
Your email address, and a display name if you give one. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address that provider releases to us — including Apple’s private relay address if you choose to hide yours. We never receive your password for those accounts. If you sign up with an email and password, the password is held and verified by our identity provider and never reaches our servers in a form we can read.
Study content you create
Notes, documents, images, courses, flashcards, quiz answers, chat messages, and anything else you write or upload. This is the substance of the product and we store it so it is there when you come back.
Learning activity
Which lessons you opened, what you answered, when reviews came due, how long sessions ran, and streaks. The review scheduling is built directly on this — without it the app cannot decide what to show you next.
Diagnostics
Crash reports, error traces, performance samples, device model and OS version, and app logs. We use these to find and fix faults.
Product analytics
Which screens were opened and which features were used, tied to your account so we can tell a returning user from a new one.
How your material reaches an AI model
This is the part worth reading closely. When you ask Acuide to build a lesson, generate a quiz, explain something, or answer a question, the relevant part of your study material is sent to a third-party AI provider to produce that response. That means your notes, documents, and questions leave our systems and are processed on their infrastructure.
If you connect Google Classroom, the titles, due dates, and status of your imported assignments, and your course names, become part of that material. They are sent to the AI provider only when you ask the assistant about your work and when Acuide prepares your daily study brief, which you can turn off in Settings. They are used only to answer that request.
We route these requests through OpenRouter, which passes them to the underlying model provider, and through Anthropic’s Claude models for some features. We send only what the request needs, and we do not sell your material or use it to train our own models. What the providers do with data they receive is governed by their own terms; we select providers that offer API terms excluding customer content from model training, but we cannot make that promise on their behalf.

Photos you capture
Capture turns a photo of your notes or a question into a digital note, a summary, or a worked answer. To do that, Acuide sends the photo you took to Google’s Gemini models through OpenRouter, which read the image and return the result. Photos are captured through the system camera or picked from your library with Apple’s photo picker, so Acuide never gets access to your whole photo library.
The photo is used only to produce the result you asked for. It is not used for advertising, for any use-based data mining, or to train our own models. The original pages are kept with the note the capture produced, so you can always check the transcription against what you photographed.
Before the first photo leaves your device, Acuide shows you this disclosure in the app and asks you to allow it. You can withdraw that permission at any time: Settings, then Acuide AI, then turn off “Capture uses AI”. With it off, Capture stops sending photos, and you can still send a photo to the assistant, which carries its own disclosure. Content Capture produces is marked “Generated by AI” in the app.
Why we process it
- To give you an account and keep you signed in.
- To store and sync your material across your devices.
- To generate lessons, quizzes, explanations, and review schedules from that material — the core function you asked for.
- To fix crashes and make the app faster.
- To understand which features are used, so we build the right ones.
- To take payment, where you subscribe.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of a contract (running the app you signed up for), legitimate interests (diagnostics, security, product analytics), consent where we ask for it, and legal obligation where one applies.
Who else processes your data
We use the following providers. Each acts on our instructions, and each publishes its own privacy terms.
- Clerk — accounts, sign-in, and email verification codes.
- Convex — the database holding your account and study content.
- OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to (including Google, whose Gemini models process the photos you capture), and Anthropic — AI generation.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- Apple and Google — sign-in, where you choose it, and app distribution and payment.
- Google also receives the text you ask Acuide to read aloud, to synthesise the speech, and, if you connect your school’s Google Classroom, we read your courses, coursework, and your own submissions from it. We never write to Google Classroom and we ask for read-only access to your own work only.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Google user data
Acuide’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs, including Google Workspace APIs, adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We use Google Classroom data only to show you your own courses, assignments, and due dates in Acuide, and to let the assistant and your study brief work from them. We do not sell it, do not use it for advertising, and do not use it to create, train, or improve AI models.
Where your data is held
Acuide’s own database and servers are in the United States. Our providers operate in the United States and elsewhere. If you are in the UK, EEA, or another region with transfer rules, your data may be processed outside it under the safeguards those providers maintain, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Your account and study content stay until you delete them or close your account. Delete your account from Settings and we remove your content and your account record; backups age out on their own cycle within 30 days. Diagnostic logs are kept for a short retention window and then discarded. We keep what tax and accounting law requires us to keep for payments.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, port it elsewhere, and withdraw consent. Email support@acuide.com and we will answer within the time the applicable law allows. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Acuide is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us data, email us and we will delete it. Users between 13 and the age of digital consent in their country should have a parent or guardian agree on their behalf.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Session credentials are held in the iOS Keychain. Access to production data is limited to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and move the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
